Carmona Services
Between September – November 2013, the Speech and Language Therapy department in Carmona Service recently ran a 7 week ‘Hanen’ course ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ for parents of children who are attending early services. The course aims to give parents the strategies and skills they can use now and in the future to help their children develop their individual communication during everyday interactions with their children.
During the same period, the Speech and Language Therapy department also facilitated a ‘Family Lámh Course’ for a different set of parents so that they could then teach their children signs which are appropriate to their child’s stage – and to feel confident about selecting new signs and incorporating them into their home environment.
Saint John of God Carmona Services provides a range of day and residential services and supports for children and adults with an intellectual disability in South Dublin. It seeks to accomplish its mission through a variety of services.
Carmona Services are dedicated in honour of St. John Grande from Carmona, Spain, a Saint John of God Brother who died in 1600 and was canonised by Pope John Paul II on 6th June 1996.

Cluain Mhuire Community Mental Health Services

Staff at Cluain Mhuire are busy preparing (in their spare time) for their annual Christmas Fundraising Fair again this year.
Each year Christmas brings up a series of both emotional and financial difficulties for some of the most vulnerable people in the local community that attend our services. We do our utmost to support them to the best of our abilities however in these increasingly stringent times it is becoming more challenging to provide some of the supports that these people find so invaluable.
For instance each year we make food hampers for people who have severe and enduring mental health difficulties with minimal access to support from family or friends and who are socially isolated. These hampers contain the basics that most people take for granted such as tea, coffee and bread however these essentials are things that this group of people genuinely struggle to afford.
Cluain Mhuire Services provide community mental health programmes for the people of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.
